Hey there! I’m Jason. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of British Columbia and have spent the past nine years doing work I genuinely love: helping students build confidence and discover what they are truly capable of. For me, tutoring has never just been about grades. It has always been about the student in front of me and making sure they feel supported and believed in.

My experience spans Kindergarten through Grade 12 and into first-year university across all STEM subjects. Alongside my degree, I have contributed to research in anatomy, zoology, women's health, and other health and science disciplines, which allows me to bring real-world context and depth into every session.

I also specialize in preparing students for the IB and AP curricula, the MCAT, the ISAT, and academic-based competitions, as well as providing university admissions consulting for students applying to institutions across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. I work closely with each student to understand how they think and where they need support, so that every session feels purposeful and personal.

At the heart of everything I do is a genuine investment in the people I work with. When a student feels truly seen and supported, that is when the real breakthroughs happen, and those moments are what keep me so passionate about this work.

 Hi, my name is Nelly. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of Victoria and am currently preparing for medical school. With over eight years of experience working with children and three years specifically focused on tutoring, I have developed a highly personalized, student-centered approach that supports learners in building confidence and achieving meaningful progress.

Through my work as a Neuro-Technician, where I support brain-based therapies, I bring an understanding of cognitive science and emotional regulation into my sessions. I focus on identifying each student’s strengths and building on them, while thoughtfully supporting areas for growth. I strive to create a calm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking academic risks and developing confidence.

I have experience working with students from Kindergarten through secondary school across a range of subject areas, including sciences (all levels), mathematics (K–Grade 11), and humanities. I support students in navigating increasingly complex material while developing strong study habits and critical thinking skills.

In addition to tutoring, I have led a student mentorship nonprofit and contributed to neuroscience research. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of how students learn best and allow me to create individualized sessions that support both academic success and long-term confidence and independence.

 Hello, I am Nilay, a Master’s student in Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta. With over 4 years of tutoring experience, I am passionate about helping students master mathematics and science, from Grade 4 through university-level courses. 

My time delivering lectures to university students has sharpened my knack for breaking down even the trickiest concepts into clear, manageable steps. I believe in building a strong foundation first, then guiding students through examples and hands-on practice, always tailoring my approach to fit each learner’s unique style. 

My goal is to create a welcoming, patient, and encouraging space where you can ask questions freely and grow at your own pace. I offer flexible online and in-person sessions, and when I am not tutoring, you will likely find me on the volleyball court or immersed in a video game adventure. 

I’m a passionate tutor with a strong background in math, science, social studies, and English. I hold a degree in Business Administration from BCIT and work professionally as a project manager. I continue to tutor because teaching and helping students succeed is something I genuinely enjoy.

My approach is patient, encouraging, and down-to-earth. I believe that building a strong relationship with each student helps them feel comfortable, supported, and confident in their learning. I understand that mastering new concepts takes patience, repetition, practice, and encouragement, and I enjoy breaking challenging material into manageable steps.

Much of my tutoring experience has been with elementary-aged students, including children with ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. I adapt my approach to each student and often incorporate games and activities to make learning engaging and relatable. I see tutoring as a complement to classroom learning, providing students with the individualized attention and additional practice they may not always receive in a busy classroom.

Outside of tutoring and my career, I enjoy travelling and playing games. I’m happy to work with families who can offer some flexibility in scheduling as I balance tutoring with my professional career.

 I am currently in my third year at the University of Alberta in the Campus Saint-Jean Education Program, majoring in Social Studies with a minor in French. I am fluent in both French and English and have recently passed the DELF B2 exam.

Over the past year, I completed a practicum at École Maurice Lavallée, where I gained valuable experience working directly with students and had the opportunity to teach a Grade 10 class. In addition to my practicum, I have supported students through tutoring, including helping a student prepare for exams by strengthening their grammar and vocabulary in French.

I take a student-centered approach to teaching and focus on breaking material down into clear, manageable concepts. I believe in tailoring learning to each student’s individual needs while supporting the development of independence and confidence.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English with a specialization in Education from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, a Master’s degree in English from Simon Fraser University, and certifications from all three levels of KPU’s Tutoring Training Program.  Hi, my name is Elise! I am currently completing a Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta, majoring in Social Studies with a double minor in Art and French. I have earned my DELF B2 certification in French and previously participated in the Explore French immersion program in Gaspé, Québec. I am especially interested in supporting students in social studies, language arts, writing, and art, though I'm comfortable tutoring other subjects as well.

I currently work as a swim instructor, where I regularly teach children in both group and private lessons. I also completed the City of Edmonton’s Leaders in Training program and volunteered in community programming for children ages 3–12, including the Edmonton Green Shack. These experiences have taught me how to adapt activities and instruction for a wide range of ages, abilities, learning styles, and needs, including autistic and other neurodivergent students. I always aim to be patient and encouraging, helping students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. I was also honoured to receive the William and Mary Hawrysh Memorial Leadership Scholarship in recognition of my leadership and community involvement.

Outside of my passion for teaching and education, I enjoy art, music, gaming, and learning about politics! 

 Hi, I’m Hannah. I am a fourth-year Biochemistry student at the University of Alberta with a strong academic foundation in the biological sciences. Through advanced coursework and undergraduate research experience—including work in sustainable chemical processes, Alzheimer’s disease pathology, and nanoparticle synthesis—I have developed strong analytical, laboratory, and problem-solving skills. This experience allows me to break down complex scientific concepts in a clear and accessible way for students.

Alongside my academic work, I have been involved in tutoring, mentorship, and leadership roles within the community. I have volunteered as a math tutor and contributed to mentorship programming and student initiatives through various organizations. I also have experience teaching piano and working with children in different educational settings, which has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and create a supportive learning environment.
