Every child deserves an education that reflects who they are, not only what they're expected to know.

I learned this long before I studied Secondary Education at the University of Alberta. My first student at My Tutor Time came to Canada as a refugee. I was still in high school, and she was working hard in a system that wasn't giving her the support she deserved. She went on to become the first in her family to attend university.

More than a decade later, some of those first students now contact me to ask about joining our team, saying they want to give back what was once given to them. That is when I understood this work reaches further than any single lesson.

Today we are a team of nearly one hundred educators across Western Canada, and I have chosen each one personally. Drawing on my years teaching in public and private schools, and my training in Instructional Leadership at Harvard, I still consult every family and match every student with their tutor. 

Our approach looks at the whole child. A child's interests and strengths matter as much as their areas for growth, often more. When we begin with what a child loves, confidence follows, and curiosity does the rest.

It is a privilege to walk alongside the families we serve, and to lead educators who care about this work as deeply as I do.

Rino brings over 20 years of parenting experience together with a professional background in counselling, coaching, neurodiversity, and education. As a mother of three and stepmother of two, her own family has navigated traditional and alternative education, homeschooling and unschooling, neurodivergence, and different countries and educational systems.

What brings a parent to Rino doesn't have to be about school. They may be worried about something, going back and forth on a decision, or simply not know what to do next. Rino takes the time to understand what parents are going through and what matters to them. Drawing on professional knowledge and lived experience, she helps them see the situation more clearly and feel more confident in the decisions they make for their family.

With teens and young adults, Rino brings a coaching approach focused on helping them navigate their own lives with greater independence. She works alongside them as they think through decisions, work through challenges, and learn to rely more on themselves.

Rino holds a Professional Counselling Diploma and a BA in Sociology, with additional training in trauma-informed and Integral Coaching, emotional intelligence, and neurodiversity.
